Meneteqel

The term “Meneteqel” refers to Daniel 5:25. While king Belshazzar celebrates a great banquet for thousands of his nobles, all of a sudden a mysterious hand writes something on the wall. Only Daniel, the Jewish prophet, is able to read the writing on the wall. For it consists of three Hebrew words (one of them written twice):

מנא מנא תקל ופרסין

Daniel is also the only one to make sense of these words:

“This is what these words mean:
Mene: God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end.
Teqel: You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.
Peres: Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians.”
(Daniel 5:26)
